Chandelle is a long, luxurious loop in worsted weight yarn, with simple but highly textured lacework. The contrast between solid and porous areas reminds me of the texture of limestone. The cowl is worked from a provisional cast on and grafted; tips are included so you can easily modify the dimensions to suit your personal taste. Chandelle, Provençal for candle, is sometimes used to describe the tall spear-like formations found atop the calanques in the south of France. The calanques are the looming limestone ridges clustered along the Mediterranean.
